Meet Jenny Rensby
December Volunteer of the Month!!!! Meet Jenny Rensby!
It's a bit difficult to put into words what Jenny brings to Home County. For the last 6 years she has worn multiple hats. She has served on the Board of Directors, Chaired the Programming Committee, served on the Finance Committee. At the Festival she's been Assistant Food Coordinator, helped with Administration and is currently the Site Coordinator. Jenny also performed in the famous 'Board, Not Bored' workshop on the East Stage - something she says is a true highlight.
It can't be overstated how much time and energy Jenny has put into Home County - all as a volunteer. So many people see her around Victoria Park on Festival weekend and assume that she is a paid organizer. She is not. She donates her time and incredible expertise to this Festival. Jenny is the point person for everyone on the Organizing Committee - her knowledge and sense of humour, even under enormous stress, are unmatched. We are so appreciative.
Jenny fell in love with Home County when she arrived in London in 2000 from Salt Spring Island (where she was a neighbour to Home County alum Valdy). Six years ago, Jenny had a friend with a sister who knew someone looking for reliable admin help for the Festival and with 28 years of banking experience under her belt, she signed on and was hooked. The rest is history!
When asked what her favourite part of being a Home County volunteer is, Jenny replied, 'the people, the connections and the stories! I have made lifelong friendships in this organization.' And Jenny has stories! Many of which involve rain...and straw and a tornado warning!
Jenny - we thank you for your incredible dedication and passion to Home County. From months of preparation to hours onsite until the last box is put in storage for next year, you are the face of the Festival. We could not do this without you.
